Primary Care Networks (PCN) were introduced in April 2019 in the GP Contract for 2019/20. From July 1st the five practices in Ainsdale and Birkdale formed their own Primary Care Network. The five practices are Ainsdale Medical Centre, Ainsdale Village Surgery, Lincoln House Surgery, The Family Surgery and the Grange Surgery.
There are four PCNs' across Southport and Formby. Ainsdale and Birkdale, Formby, Central Southport and North Southport. You can read more background about PCNs here.
The five practices in Ainsdale and Birkdale PCN remain as independent GP Surgeries but they will be working collaboratively in a number of ways to achieve the benefits of scale and to become the cornerstone of integrated care in the future.
New investment in primary care will, in future, be delivered at the primary care network level.
