There has been a lot of media coverage in the last few weeks about a new data collection scheme which means that medical data about individual patients will be extracted from our database and used by NHS Dgital for secondary purposes ie not for your direct care.

The timescale has been extended to allow more detailed consultation and communication around the purpose of the scheme.

This scheme is call General Practice Data for Planning and Research (GPDPR). This daily data extraction will now commence on September 1st 2021.

All individuals have the right to opt out of this scheme and stop their data being extracted but they must tell us by 25th August to allow us time to process the opt out requests.

NHS Digital have published this video and supporting materials to explain more about the schemeand why it is important.

This link will take you to our resource page which includes more information and also a link to an opt out form.
