The government issued new guidance on May 11 as part of its plan to return the country to its normal way of life as quickly as possible.
This allowed outdoor sports facilities – such as tennis and basketball courts, golf courses and bowling greens – to open, but they stressed that people should only use these alone, with members of their household, or with one other person from outside their household, while keeping two metres apart at all times. The guidance is published in full here.
If you are one of the high risk patients that have received a 'shielding' letter from Ainsdale Medical Centre or directly from the government then the advice remains that you should not leave your house until at least June 30.
If you are over 70 years old or have a medical condition that concerns you but does not put you in the highest risk category for shielding then you can enjoy the relative freedom to exercise outdoors in line with the new guidance. You should observe sensible social distancing measures at all times. Ultimately the decision on what to do rests with the individual and the doctors are unable to offer specific advice on such matters.
