The NHS App has been designed for use by patients for booking appointments and ordering repeat prescriptions through an app on their smartphone or tablet. It can also be used for checking your symptoms, viewing your online medical record (where access levels are approved), register as an organ donor and choose how you data i used by the NHS.
To register for the NHS app, you do not need to come in to the surgery. You can do it one of two ways through the app.
The first is if you are a new user. You will need to use the NHS identity verification service which requires users to take a photograph of themselves, and a photograph of an official piece of photo identification, such as a driving licence or passport. The software then checks the identification against the photograph taken of the person. You will normally receive approval to use the app within 2 hours.
The second is if you are already a user of online services. This requires your user id (which can be found in the profile section of your current online service portal). You will have access to exactly the same information as you currently have on patient access.
The NHS app is free to download on for iOS through the App Store and Android through the Play Store.
